Stuart J. Head, MD PhD

Stuart brings an exceptional track record at the intersection of cardiovascular surgery, clinical research, and medical device development. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications in cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery, including major clinical guidelines such as the ESC/EACTS Guidelines on myocardial revascularization.

After building a strong academic and clinical foundation, Stuart transitioned into industry, where he has held senior leadership roles across medical and clinical affairs. He brings broad expertise in clinical strategy, preclinical and clinical study design, regulatory evidence generation, key-opinion leader engagement, and the medical aspects of bringing innovative devices from development into clinical use.

His experience spans both corporate and start-up environments, including successful pathways to FDA approval and CE Mark certification for Class II and Class III medical devices. As Chief Medical Officer, Stuart has also contributed to company-building at the strategic level, including the successful exit of a medical device company to a large strategic acquirer.
